Under Alberta’s Home Education Regulation, parents have the primary responsibility for directing their child’s education. ACA At-Home walks alongside you as a trusted partner, providing:
Personal Facilitation
Caring, in-person home visits (not online meetings) from certified teacher-facilitators who:
  • Take time to know your family
  • Assist in program planning
  • Support assessment and progress tracking
  • Provide coaching and mentorship throughout the year
  • Perform a minimum of two in-person visits annually

Funding Support For Families

Families in Grades 1-12 receive:
  • $928 per child to support curriculum, lessons, and program-related educational expenses.
Kindergarten students receive:
  • $464 per child

Flexible Program Options

Families may choose the program structure that best fits their needs:
Traditional Home Education
  • Parents choose and implement learning outcomes
  • Full flexibility in curriculum selection
  • Education directed entirely by the parent
  • Home Ed Grant funding to reimburse expenses
  • Available in:
Shared Responsibility Program
  • Instruction is divided between parents and a school partner such as HEEP (Home Education Enrichment Programs). Available in: 
  • ​Prorated Home Ed Grant funding to reimburse expenses
  • Combines home instruction with structured classroom enrichment
Both options provide the same strong facilitator support.

Community & Enrichment Opportunities

Home education doesn’t mean learning alone.

Monthly Community Days:
Families gather for a variety of activities. Below are a few examples of past Community Days:
  • Field trips: Nature Hikes
  • Physical Education classes: rock climbing and archery
  • Art activities: making ceramics
  • Special events and fellowship: Christmas party, Park days,
(Usually held on Fridays or Mondays.)
All activities are offered at no cost or low cost to families, ensuring everyone can participate.
Activity Clusters:
(Currently in Airdrie. Coming soon to Edmonton and Red Deer)
These opportunities allow students to build friendships while exploring new interests.
  • Each quarter new activities are planned to include a variety of options from: 
    • Physical Education
    • Art
    • Culinary Arts
    • Sports
    • And more!
Most activities are offered on a first‑come, first‑served basis and require a paid registration.​

Families can apply if they are near an ACA Hub in:

To begin an application, please use the link below to access our Pre-Enrollment Form.  You will be asked to create a SchoolEngage Account, and then given further instructions.  

Once you have your student(s) added, please be sure to select the 2026-27 ACA At-Home Pre-Enrollment Form option.  You will need to complete a form for each child. Once your pre-enrollment form has been reviewed and accepted, the full application form will be added to your account for you to complete.

Please Note: Completing an application does not guarantee you a spot in your desired program as spacing is limited.  As spots become available, they will be given to new families who have completed the application process.
